VAHS Coaching changes/announcements

Co-Head Coach Jason Ott has decided to concentrate his efforts to continue to build the Verona Area wrestling program at the youth and MS levels.

Coach Chris Brown has decided he can not make the time commitment required for a paid coach with his two young children and his career. He plans to continue to volunteer at the HS level.

Coach Kody Popenfus and Coach Wozniak will both continue at the HS level. Coach Popenfus will be in his second season as a paid coach and Coach Woz is currently planning for his 24th season of involvement with the Verona Area wrestling program.

The two open positions were recently posted by the VASD for the VAHS Wrestling program and are both 0.5 FTE positions as a Co-Head coach and as a Co-Assistant coach. For the past 8 seasons, we have commonly split the two full-time VAHS Wrestling coaching paid positions to have four paid coaches. If you have a wrestling and coaching background and are interested in either of these positions please do not hesitate to apply.  Please do not hesitate to contact me as I’m always willing to discuss VAHS Wrestling and answer any questions. If we are unable to find a well-qualified candidate interested in the Co-Head coaching position then I will most likely take over the full head coaching contract.
